My niece Meenu absolutely adores this. It's become a nightly ritual and she practically refuses to sleep without hearing at least a few pages from this beautiful story. The lyrical writing and enchanting world Sabrina Shah has created using Pathan and Pakistani culture truly capture her imagination. As an adult reading it aloud, I find myself equally drawn to the message of hope and perseverance. A truly special book. Plus, amazing pictures of Pakistan in the ending author notes. Makes me want to go and visit those beautiful places.

An absolute fantastic read, perfect for my children, colourful and full of inspiration. Super informative at the back with some facts about parts of the story such as Pakistan and the musical instruments used.

A beautiful tale of resilience and self belief and a wonderful musical instrument

This was a Christmas gift for my nephew, who loves animals, and is curious about *everything*. The book was a hit. He asked us to read it to him many times over. We explained the different foods seen in the illustrations to him (my family loves Indian food); he also thought the little penguin was very funny.

My niece and I absolutely lovedddd it! She's 10 months and occasionally loves her books, but this one, she wouldn't take her eyes off from front to back! The colors were so intriguing to her, along with all the characters that looked just like her :) The inclusivity enough did it for me, but the storyline was so creative and provided the perfect learning experience for colors, cultural references, and learning word association. It was a joy for me to read myself, but especially for her. I hope you love it just as much as we do! Can't forget a big thank you to Fatuma!
