☀️ Happy Summer Solstice! Celebrating with an Unrealistic Summer TBR 📚
Hello, lovely readers! Summer is officially here, and what better way to celebrate the longest day of the year than by diving into a brand-new reading list? I’ve decided to share my VERY unrealistic TBR (To-Be-Read) list for the summer. 😅 Let’s be real—I know I’m probably setting myself up for failure, but hey, c'est la vie!
Without further ado, here (in no particular order) are just a FEW of the books from my massive TBR pile that I’d love to tackle this summer:
Thrillers
- Malicia by Steven Dos Santos
- One of Our Kind by Nicola Yoon
Stories
- The Best That You Can Do by Amina Gautier
- Never Whistle at Night, edited by Shane Hawk and Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.
Literary Fiction
- How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water by Angie Cruz
Historical Fiction
- The American Queen by Vanessa Miller
Romance
- The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava
- Four Eids and a Funeral by Adiba Jaigirdar and Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé (YA Romance)
Graphic Novel/Horror
- The Night Eaters by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda
Fantasy
- Masquerade by J. Sangoyomi
- The Maid and the Crocodile by Jordan Ifueko
- Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
- Children of Anguish and Anarchy by Tomi Adeyemi (after re-reading books 1 & 2 of course!)
- So Let Them Burn by Kamilah Cole
Contemporary YA
- Eighteen Roses by Shannon C.F. Rogers
Essays/Nature
- World of Wonders by Aimee Nezhukumatathil
SciFi/Afro-futurism
- Africa Risen (Anthology)
- Binti: The Complete Trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor
So, that’s 18 books for July and August… yeah, not happening! But it’ll be a lot of fun TRYING! 😁

⁉ Do we have any books in common? Have you read any of these and highly recommend them? Let me know!
If you want to join me in a "buddy read" (with little expectations because I suck at those too), you can buy any of the books at Tuma's Books. 💜
Here’s to a summer filled with sunshine, relaxation, and (hopefully) lots of reading! Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! ☀️📚
