Filipino American History Month

Filipino American History Month is celebrated in the United States during the month of October. Filipino Americans are the second-largest Asian American group in the United States and the third-largest ethnic group in California. It's a time to recognize the contributions of Filipino Americans to the history and culture of the United States and California. 

Celebrated in October each year to commemorate the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States on October 18, 1587. It was proposed by the Filipino American National Historical Society in 1991 and first celebrated in October 1992. In 2009, the U.S. Congress officially recognized October as Filipino American History Month.
